so glad you’re here…
I'm Elyse, a lifestyle & documentary photographer in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
here’s a little about me:
+ I’m wife to my highschool sweetheart, mama to 3 outdoorsy boys, & a visual storyteller living the simple life on a little creek surrounded by woods
+ I’m inspired by the wildflowers my husband sows each spring & the handfuls my children bring me to place in vases… I think it's those ordinary moments in my own life that drive me toward capturing the beautifully ordinary in others' lives.
+ My typical day: bulletproof coffee, a quick workout or nature walk with the boys, farm chores, homeschooling my 3 wild ones, & editing photos or answering emails. Organized chaos is probably the best way to describe raising young children while working from home. :)
+ I LOVE: real, raw emotion. the connection between parents and their children. early mornings. sun dappled porches. moody edits. color. depth. laughter. nature. growth. Jesus.
+ I don’t love: ‘pinterest-perfect poses’, or perfectly manicured lawns, or perfect anything really.. I want real life, real moments, genuine love.
why hire me? …
I won’t settle for average. Your raw moments are so much more important than poses. My promise is to pour my heart & soul into your session experience – before, during & after. I’ll be there to guide you, but also allow you to just be you.
Life isn't perfect. In fact, it's extraordinarily imperfect, and my hope is to tell that imperfect story of yours. To preserve your presence. I believe the very best photos happen when you allow yourself (and especially your kiddos) to let go and just be.
Creating beautiful images requires only the choice to be vulnerable with the ones you love, and I promise to give you the space & time to comfortably do that. My sessions are carefree, filled with movement, and always focus on natural interaction + connection rather than poses. Your photos are truly your tangible legacy.
”Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.” –1 Peter 4:10-11
